The Ads Manager Dashboard
Chapter 07 — The Ads Manager Dashboard
Ads Manager is OpenAI’s web dashboard for advertisers, at ads.openai.com. It is the single entry point for everything an advertiser does outside the API.
What you do here
- Create campaigns, ad groups, and ads.
- Provision a Pixel ID for measurement.
- Generate Conversions API keys.
- Issue Advertiser API keys (Settings → API keys).
- View insights and performance reporting.
- Manage billing.
Self-serve access
Self-serve Ads Manager opened to all U.S. advertisers on May 5, 2026. The prior minimum spend (originally $200k–$250k, briefly $50k from April 10) was removed at the same time. Sign-up is at ads.openai.com.
The May 5 launch also added new technology partners — Adobe, Pacvue, Kargo, StackAdapt — for advertisers running ChatGPT Ads through existing ad-tech stacks rather than directly.
Where Ads Manager ends and the API begins
Ads Manager is the interactive surface. The Advertiser API (Chapters 13–19) is the programmatic surface. They sit on the same backend — anything you can do in Ads Manager, you can do via the API. Most advertisers use both: Ads Manager for setup and ad hoc inspection, the API for automation, attribution pipelines, and bulk operations.
The two places where you must touch Ads Manager directly:
- Provisioning — Pixel IDs, Conversions API keys, and Advertiser API keys are issued in Settings tabs of the dashboard, not via API.
- Billing — invoicing, payment methods, and account status live only in the dashboard.
Everything else is mirrored in the API.
