Square Just Integrated ChatGPT. Your Buyers Are There.

Square, a massive player in ecommerce payments and point-of-sale systems, just connected directly to ChatGPT (BusinessWire, July 1 2026). This isn’t a minor update for their sellers. This is Square putting AI discovery at the heart of their entire platform toolkit. It’s a clear signal about where buyer behavior is headed.

What does that mean for your Shopify brand? It means your customers are already asking AI for product recommendations. They ask for the “best non-toxic scented candles” or “durable home decor brands.” The AI answers. The buyer decides right there, inside the conversation.

Now, Square is making sure its sellers have a clearer path to be part of that answer. They are building the infrastructure for their merchants to push products into this new discovery engine. This isn’t about the future. It’s about right now.

ChatGPT is the new channel for product discovery. It converts about twice as high as traditional search. You are not on it yet. It is still cheap.
