For years, the talk was about SEO. Then PPC. Then social. Always about where the buyers were, and how to get in front of them. The channel changed, but the game was the same.

Now, it’s about to change again. Not a little. A lot.

Imagine your customer asks an AI agent, “Find me the best skincare for sensitive skin, under $50, from a Shopify brand that ships fast.” An AI agent is a piece of software that can understand a request, then autonomously search, process information, and make recommendations or take actions on behalf of the user.

What happens next?

That agent goes out and does the shopping. It reads product pages. It compares reviews. It finds ingredients. It asks clarifying questions. And then it tells your customer what to buy.

Not a list of blue links. Not an ad. An answer.

Some analysts predict that 70% of all commerce will be driven by these AI agents (Let’s Data Science, “AI Agents Drive Majority of Web Traffic and Threaten Ads,” June 19 2026). Think about that for a second. If your brand isn’t speaking the language these agents understand, if your product pages aren’t optimized for an AI to cite you, you might as well not exist.

This isn’t theory. Money is already flowing. Just this week, an agentic marketing AI startup, Gradial, secured $65M in funding (SiliconANGLE, “Agentic marketing AI startup Gradial grabs $65M in fresh funding,” June 19 2026). People are betting on this. Are you?

The channel pitch is simple: ChatGPT is the new channel. A buyer asks. The model answers. The buyer decides inside the conversation. The buyer purchases. It converts about twice as high as anything else. You’re not on it yet. While it’s still cheap.

Your paid acquisition numbers on Google and Meta? They will start to feel expensive when 70% of transactions bypass them entirely.

Here is what you do today: Open your top 3 product pages. Read them. Then imagine an AI agent reading them. Does it understand your unique selling proposition? Does it get your benefits? Does it have the facts it needs to recommend you?
